Proper terms

To the editor:

Terminology plays an important role in our current global situation.

We cannot use normal military terminology while referring to our “enemy.” Some debate if we really have an actual “enemy.”

A few words we cannot seem to use when referring to our “enemy” are “soldier, general, battle, battle front, command post, troops, platoon, battalion or division.” We hear the media using the same few words and phrases day after day such as, “insurgent, sectarian violence, IED, suicide bomber and dead.”

Our “enemy,” on the other hand, will likely be using a very important military term: surrender. Guess to whom they will be referring?
