More to story
To the editor:
This is in response to “Protesters demand answers in shooting” in the Monday Journal-World. I am disappointed in our citizens who are quick to cry foul and demand the resignation of Raymond Kelly, the New York City police commissioner. I question why a father of two was at a strip bar that was known for its drug trafficking and prostitution at 4 a.m. Yes, I know he was at his bachelor party, but is this really responsible behavior? What kind of activity was he involved in that made an undercover police officer feel that he should be followed? Why did his car ram into an unmarked police vehicle?
Perhaps the citizens of New York should wait for the answers to these and other questions before they verbally attack the very people who risk their lives, on a daily basis, to make sure their city is safe.
Each one of us is responsible for our actions. If those actions place you in a precarious position, one of possible life-threatening danger, you cannot blame someone else for what happens.
