Landplan Engineering announces the hiring of two employees for its Lawrence office:

¢ Brian Sturm, a landscape architect, provides research, analysis, preliminary design, graphic support and technical assistance for a variety of projects. Among his current projects are plans for Mercato, a 337,000-square-foot shopping and office center at the northwest corner of Sixth Street and George Williams Way; expansion of Corpus Christi Catholic Church; and expansion of the Lawrence Humane Society.

Sturm received a Master of Landscape Architecture degree in 2005 from the University of Georgia, after earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2000.

¢ Jeff Simons is an engineering technician, providing technical assistance and working as a CAD (computer-aided design) operator on civil-engineering projects. His current work list includes Prairie Ridge, in Spring Hill; and North Creek subdivision, in Oak Grove, Mo.
