High school students sing way to state choirs
A dozen Lawrence junior high school students were selected to sing in statewide choirs.
Ten students were named to the 2007 Kansas Statewide Treble Honor Choir. From Southwest Junior High are Meghan Church, Jesse Dowell, Natalie Edmondson, Natalie Hiebert, Morgan Mills, Sarah Ramirez, Ashley Rasmussen and Mary Soderberg. From Central Junior High are Helen Gent and Martha Allen.
They will present a concert at the Kansas Music Educators Association conference in February in Wichita, said Patrick Kelly, the Lawrence school district’s fine arts specialist.
Two South Junior High students, Evan Georgie and Olivia Johnson, were accepted into the KMEA’s State Middle-Level Choir, which will rehearse and perform at the conference in Wichita.
