A Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter assisted law enforcement agencies with a search in North Lawrence early Thursday morning after a car chase.

At 12:14 a.m. a Highway Patrol trooper saw a car in the 500 block of North Street bearing a stolen license tag and attempted to stop it, according to patrol dispatch records. Following a chase, the driver abandoned the car in the 600 block of North 10th Street.

The helicopter was called at 1:30 a.m. to help with a search for the driver. The driver was not found, and the search ended at 2:20 a.m., a dispatcher said. No other details were available.
