Foundation taking funding applications

The Douglas County Community Foundation is accepting applications for receiving funding in 2007 from its unrestricted fund.

The application deadline is Dec. 1.

The unrestricted fund supports projects that improve the quality of life in Douglas County in the areas of arts and culture, community development, education, the environment, health, human services and youth development.

The foundation, established in 2000, encourages the support of local charitable causes. During that time it has distributed more than $1.8 million in Douglas County. More than 30 grants totaling $143,690 were made from the unrestricted fund in 2006.
