Personal property tax statements in the mail

The Douglas County Treasurer’s Office mailed nearly 48,000 personal property and real estate tax statements Monday.

The first payment – half of the personal property tax bill – is due by Dec. 20. If it is not paid, the full year’s total becomes immediately due. Second-half payments are due May 10.

Tax payments can be mailed in the provided return envelope, paid in person at any of three treasurer’s office locations or paid online at www.douglas-county.com.

Treasurer’s office locations are the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass., the Park Plaza shopping center, 2108 W. 27th St., and the Dillons at 3000 W. Sixth St.

Payments also can be placed in drop boxes at the courthouse or the Park Plaza location.

Next week, the county will mail 37,500 tax information sheets to real estate owners. The sheets compare 2005 and 2006 assessments and are for informational purposes only.
