Omaha, Neb. ? Bonnie Henrickson’s interchangeable-parts system seems to be working so far.

Nine players scored for Kansas University’s women’s basketball team in Thursday’s 66-53 home victory over UMKC, and that likely will remain the pattern, at least in the early going.

“We’re going to be a team where it’ll be someone different every night,” said Henrickson, the Jayhawks’ third-year coach.

Thus, there’s no telling who will step up tonight when KU plays its first road game against Creighton.

Tipoff will be at 7:08 p.m. in the Omaha Civic Auditorium. There is no television, but the game will be broadcast on the Jayhawk Radio Network, including 1320 KLWN.

Prior to the UMKC game, 6-foot-2 center Marija Zinic was the only KU player averaging double-figure scoring. But with the Kangaroos concentrating on Zinic, guards Kelly Kohn and Ivana Catic provided a third of KU’s scoring with 13 and nine points, respectively.

Kohn has started all three games, but Catic, a starter most of last season, has been used solely off the bench. Henrickson won’t reveal tonight’s starting lineup until today’s mid-day shootaround, but it’s possible Catic will take part in pre-game introductions tonight.

Kansas will be Creighton’s home-opening foe, and the Bluejays figure to be hungry after suffering back-to-back road losses at Arkansas-Little Rock (66-55) and Kansas State (94-79).
