Whose opinion?
To the editor:
This letter is in regard to City Commissioner Boog Highberger’s comments in the Journal-World’s SLT story on Nov. 15.
Highberger, an opponent of the 32rd Street route first says, “For many, many people in town that area is very important.” Then he goes on to say, “It would be an affront to half the people in this town to build a road through it.”
Which is it, Mr. Highberger? Many, many or half? Very important or insulting (See Webster’s re: affront).
Until a nonpartisan poll is taken or a nonbinding referendum is held and the citizen are asked their opinion, then Mr. Highberger and the other members of the commission need to confine their remarks to “I feel” or “My friends feel.”
Paul Schultz,
Lawrence
