Beauty Brands donates to shelter

Beauty Brands Salon Spa Superstore, Lawrence, donated nearly $2,300 to Women’s Transitional Care Services as part of an “It Takes Guts” sales campaign conducted in October at the store.

Beauty Brands donated 100 percent of its October sales of Guts, a volume-boosting spray produced by Redken. Beauty Brands offered the spray at a reduced price, after Redken donated the products for the campaign.

Customers also were invited to donate directly to support the shelter, a refuge for battered women and children in the Lawrence area. Its services include a safe shelter, 24-hour crisis line, peer counseling and support, a weekly support group and referrals.

The campaign was part of the Beauty Brands’ sixth-annual Reduce Abuse program, which supports victims of domestic violence. The Kansas City, Mo.-based company has raised more than $275,000 for local shelters; today there are 20 shelters supported in 10 states.
