Accused carjacker faces more charges

The Henry County, Mo., Prosecutor’s Office has charged Lawrence resident Brandon W. Callahan, 24, with three felony crimes in relation to an alleged carjacking and 130-mile police pursuit that ended there.

Prosecutor Richard Shields charged Callahan with tampering, resisting arrest and attempted escape from confinement, all felonies. The most severe charge, attempted escape, is punishable by up to seven years in prison.

That charge stems from an alleged attack on a Henry County Sheriff’s Department officer after Callahan had been taken into custody at the Henry County Jail, the prosecutor’s office there said.
