Sculptor, artist to visit KU campus

Kansas University’s art department welcomes sculptor and multimedia artist Andrea Stanislav to KU as part of its Visiting Artist Series.

Stanislav, a native of Chicago, currently resides in Minneapolis and New York City and is assistant professor of art at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Her sculptures, installations and video/animation works are influenced by such elements as the language of film, architecture and pop culture as well as scientific studies of perception.

Stanislav has received numerous awards for her works, including a 2005 Jerome Fellowship, a 2005 McKnight Research Fellowship and a 2005 Grant-in-Aid Award from the University of Minnesota.

Stanislav will give a lecture at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Spencer Museum of Art. The talk is free and open to the public.
