Payless sales rise in October
Payless ShoeSource Inc. on Thursday said sales in stores open at least a year increased 5.2 percent during the third quarter on the strength of women’s and children’s categories.
The Topeka-based retailer’s total sales for the quarter ending Oct. 28, which includes stores opened since last year, increased 5.5 percent to $703.4 million from $666.5 million during the same quarter a year ago.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial expected third-quarter revenue of $679.4 million.
So far this year, same-store sales increased 2.6 percent.
