Pharmacist noted for innovation

Lawrence resident Kenneth Mishler, senior vice president for the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, received the Innovative Practice Award during the Kansas Pharmacists Assn.’s 126th annual meeting, conducted Sept. 30 in Topeka.

The award, sponsored by Elan Biopharmaceuticals, recognizes Mishler for a variety of patient-care initiatives – most recently, his work at the foundation regarding Medicare prescription benefit management and healthcare quality improvement.

At the foundation, Mishler is responsible for helping physician offices to incorporate electronic medical records with clinical decision support modules and e-prescription capabilities. He also works with hospitals in their reporting of quality measures.

Mishler joined the foundation in November 2005, having worked for 10 years previously as clinical coordinator in the pharmacy department at Providence Medical Center. Before that, he was a clinical pharmacist at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Labette County Medical Center in Parsons.

Mishler graduated from Kansas University in 1982 and received his Doctor of Pharmacy in 1995.
