Fire destroys trailer in East Lawrence
A fire in a trailer home late Sunday forced three generations of residents out of their residence.
About 9:15 p.m. Sunday, a fire broke out in the bedroom at 1908 E. 19th St., a trailer home in the Brookwood Mobile Home Park, where a grandmother, a mother and her children lived.
Bill Stark, a division chief with Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical, said that fire investigators were not certain how the fire started but that much of the double-wide trailer home was damaged.
Stark said the family would not be able to stay there but the department would contact the Red Cross to assist.
The mother, who did not want to be named, said she hadn’t yet informed her mother. The family would stay with neighbors for the time being, she said.
