‘Blitz Build’ runs Friday to Sunday

A few months of construction work will be condensed into a few days this week, as the Lawrence Home Builders Assn. embarks on a residential “blitz build” for Lawrence Habitat for Humanity.

The effort – with hundreds of association members volunteering services and materials – will create a new home for Habitat, which provides homes at low cost to qualifying families.

The new home, with three bedrooms and one bathroom, will be built near the corner of Homewood Street and Bullene Avenue. The schedule calls for framing to start at 6 a.m. Friday and run through grading and sod installation next Sunday.

The Lawrence event is considered part of Habitat’s Home Builders Blitz 2006, which starts the week of June 5 and calls for more than 400 homes to be built in more than 130 communities.
