Last call?
To the editor:
I chuckled at Stu Nowlin’s suggestion regarding the recent article (Journal-World, May 18), “DNA study shows early humans, chimps monkeyed around.” Mr. Nowlin wondered if such encounters between our ancestors may have coincided with the discovery and use of fermented beverages.
I think that hypothesis fairly begs the question: How much alcohol would a chimp have to imbibe before a human looked attractive enough for the chimp to want to “monkey around”?
I would suppose such a moment of encounter would have followed the first utterance of the now famous bar cry, “Last call!”
