Former chamber leader moving to L.A.
A former longtime president of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce is about to become president of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
Gary Toebben, who led the Lawrence chamber from 1981 to 1999, starts his new job July 1. He will oversee a staff of 35 and lead an organization with 1,350 business members in the country’s second-largest city, with 3.8 million people.
Since leaving the Lawrence chamber and its 1,300 members, Toebben has been president of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, a 1,900-member organization across the Ohio River from Cincinnati.
