Three 20-year-old Lawrence men went to jail this weekend after police caught them tossing water balloons onto the road from their apartment balcony near Ninth Street and Emery Road, according to a report.

A 50-year-old woman called police Saturday evening after her car was struck by one of the balloons as she drove west on Ninth Street. Officers came to the scene and saw balloons flying from a balcony in the complex at 927 Emery Road.

They knocked on the door of the apartment and eventually arrested three people, identified in jail records as Richard E. Hornbeck IV, Derek J. Harrison, and John Buck. All three were released from jail and issued notices to appear in municipal court.
