Lawrence man arrested in HIV exposure case

A 30-year-old Lawrence man was arrested during the weekend for allegedly exposing a 37-year-old woman to the HIV virus during several sexual encounters late last week.

However, the man had been released from jail by Monday, and no formal charges had yet been filed against him.

The suspect is listed in jail records as a transient. The alleged victim told police she had sexual contact with the man on four occasions between Thursday and Friday in northern Lawrence.

The case is not related to a separate HIV-exposure case pending in District Court involving a 29-year-old Lawrence man, Robert W. Richardson II, charged with exposing multiple victims to HIV.

Richardson is due in District Court this morning for a hearing on one of the cases against him.
