Work it out

May 16, 2006

To the editor:

I read somewhere that President Truman said if his right arm was a Republican he would cut it off. Myself, I think I would try to work something out.

The reason I mention this is because I am very sure that many Republicans feel the same way about Democrats and I am hoping that they will be able to be level-headed enough to realize this isn't their father's Republican Party anymore and allow the Democrats a chance to bring our state and country back to the center where it should be.

So if you can't bring yourself to vote for a Democratic candidate, then stay home or vote for a third party or write in a name. As for the independent voters, this is the time to join the Democrats. I know there are many moderate Republicans who are not happy with what is happening to their party and they can bring their party back to their senses by voting for a Democratic candidate.

Interesting strategy. "If you're not a democrat, please don't vote. It's our only hope."

Is the democratic party really in such dire straights?

Is that why the Republican Party puts so much effort into making sure that minority voters' votes are never counted, RT?

Oh heavens! Could it be as bad as Rightthinker says? You mean Democrats actually help people vote? They offer them rides to the polls?

Oh, the shame! The horror!

Not nearly as honorable as the Republicans bussing in a bunch of overpaid white guys from out of state to pretend to be grass-roots locals and bang on someone's door and scream angrily to KEEP VOTES FROM GETTING COUNTED!

No wonder the Republican monkey's support is almost thirty percent among the American people. His whole party is such a shining beacon of morality.

Today's GOP may not be one's "father's Republican Party."

Unfortunately, the Dems ARE one's "father's Democrat Party." As Howard Dean, chairman of the national Democrats, was recently asked after the host ticked off one factor after another hurting Republicans: " are you planning to blow this latest opportunity?"

CC, that's pretty much what Ann is asking. Interestingly enough...that's about the point that I am at. I cannot in good concience vote for a murderer, especially one that murders the most innocent of our society. The current Repubs are spending so much money foolishly that it's making me sick. Either way we're screwed.

Conservatives are through, period. They have been exposed as the souless, fascist reactionaries lacking any meaningful core values they truly are. All they can do is insult and call names.

They need to be sent back to kindergarten to learn manners, and then to high-school civics to learn the core values - particularly, the rights and absolute majesty of the individual - that are the basis of American democracy.

Conservatives are, for the most part, ignorant impediments to needed, common sense tools and approaches in our society. They are racist/elitists, throwbacks to a crueler, more vicious time, and they are a curse on our country: our past, our present, and our future.

We need to elect liberal Democrats who can bring fiscal conservatism at home and common sense to diplomacy abroad. No more conservatives.

Liberal Democrats are the only hope for America. Conservative Republicans have shown themselves to be feckless whores who routinely sell out the republic in order to get re-elected.

While you lambaste William the Great at every opportunity, you should remember that William, albeit grudgingly, sacrificed the Democratic majority in the House in order to get his tax bill passed in 1993; a measure that ultimately led to economic recovery, cutting the deficit, and a budget surplus.

What conservative Republican has done as much?

Hillary will be an outstanding president, almost as good as William the Great. With him advising him, she cannot go wrong. She will raise taxes on wealthy corporations and individuals; cut federal spending to the absolute minimum needed to defend the country and operate the government; bring order to the health insurance fiasco; protect and defend our borders; restore diplomatic rapport with our traditional allies, and once again hold up America as the single greatest country that has ever existed on this planet.

Perhaps, by the middle of her second term, Hillary will have consigned the brash mistakes of your ignorant Texas cowboy to the ash heap of distant memory.

David Horowitz is a phony, a snake-oil salesman who will do and say anything to win notoriety . . . so he can gather "donations" to his many non-profit organizations, of which he is the self-appointed president.

In this instance, even Satan can quote Scripture. Liberal Democrats who think conservatives are "compassionate" will forever be blind-sided by the malice of the right - by the money-hungry cynicism of those who insist they are the only "true Americans"; by the viciousness of those who disdain all individual rights but their own; by the contempt and disdain of those who openly practice racial elitism, and the ruthless disregard for the well-being of the downtrodden by those who preen themselves as "compassionate conservatives."

Liberal Democrats can overlook that conservatives are lying, hypocrite scum . . . as long as they demonstrate at least a modicum of competence. There has been no demonstrable competence anywhere among conservatives since Ronald Reagan's first term.

I - and most of the liberal Democrats I know - am also a capitalist. I believe in the power and uses of capital to build, nourish, nurture, and preserve our society. I, frankly, want to accumulate and use as much capital as I can.

The idea that I - or most of the liberal Democrats I know - are communists, or that we support some lurking communist conspiracy or tendencies . . . is ridiculous.

the funniest part of the LTE: implies demorats pull towards the center ROTFLOLLOLLOLOLOL! center= Ted Kennedy??? center=Dick Turban??? center=Nancy Pelosi????? center=AlGore?????????????? this can't be a serious letter to the editor!

bearded_gnome 11 years, 7 months ago

How would you know when you are so far from center? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The 'demorats' foolishness just shows your ignorant bias.

????? and, there is not necessarily virtue in "the center" often just mooshy minded people who don't have strong convictions about right and wrong.
