Students to compete in chess championships

Eight students from Cordley and Wakarusa Valley schools will be in Denver on Friday to compete in the U.S Chess Federation’s National Elementary School Championship:

¢ Fourth grade: Owen McFadden, Wakarusa Valley; Eddie Wilson, Cordley.

¢ Third grade: Jakob Burdett, Sam Stephens, George Wedge, all Cordley.

¢ Second grade: Roscoe Bradt, McCarthy Fitch, Brandon Jaiser, all Cordley

Also competing in the championship will be nine students from Quail Run School.

More than 2,000 students are expected to compete in the three-day event at the Hyatt Denver Convention Center.
