Confirmed, suspected mumps cases now 190
Cases of mumps in Douglas County have increased again, with a total of 190 confirmed and suspected cases as of Wednesday, according to the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department.
There were 182 such cases Tuesday, the county reported.
Mumps cases in the state have increased also, with 408 cases either confirmed or probable across Kansas. There are 62 patients with potential symptoms of mumps still under investigation, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported Wednesday.
Douglas County still contains the majority of mumps cases in the state, which have infected mainly college-age residents.
