Group to offer help funding prescriptions

Lawrence-area residents who are struggling to stay on top of their pharmacy bills are invited to meet with Partnership for Prescription Assistance representatives from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Health Care Access, 1920 Moodie Road.

The representatives will be on a bus equipped with telephones and computers designed to determine whether participants are eligible for aid through more than 475 private assistance programs. Participants are asked to bring a list of prescription drugs they are taking.

“We want to get the word out on what’s available,” said Nina DeLorenzo, a spokeswoman for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.

Plans call for the bus, called “Help is Here Express,” to make stops in all 50 states. Help also is available on the group’s Web site, www.pparx.org, or by calling (888) 477-2669.
