Starving Artists Moving and Comtech Construction Systems, both of Lawrence, received state awards this month from the Kansas Small Business Development Center and its eight regional centers.

Starving Artists received an Existing Business of the Year award, and Comtech received an Emerging Business of the Year award. The businesses represent the region served by Kansas University Small Business Development Center in Lawrence.

The awards were presented earlier this month during a ceremony at the state Capitol. The state center is a network of regional centers financed through a partnership of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Kansas Department of Commerce.
