Volunteers needed for Meals on Wheels route

The Lawrence Meals on Wheels program seeks volunteer drivers to assist with meal delivery for a recently established delivery route. Driver positions are available each day of the week to pick up and deliver meals. Route delivery takes approximately 45 minutes. Immediate volunteer needs

¢ The Ballard Center is looking for a volunteer substitute driver to help with pickup and distribution of food through the commodities program that serves low-income community members. The substitute driver will assist on occasions that the regular driver is unavailable. The volunteer must have a valid driver’s license, carry insurance and be able to lift and carry boxes to load and unload the delivery truck. Training will be provided. ¢ Roger Hill Volunteer Center announces the 2006 Day of Caring, from 9 a.m. to noon April 29. Registration forms are being accepted for individuals and groups interested in volunteering for this annual event. The Day of Caring brings together hundreds of organizations, businesses, families and individuals who volunteer on behalf of dozens of community organizations. Projects may include painting, cleaning, archiving, organizing and yard care on behalf of local nonprofit organizations and community members in need. ¢ The sixth annual Community Resource Expo will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. April 11. Eight community volunteers are needed to staff the event, which offers more than 50 booths providing information to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Volunteers will assist with setting up the fair, directing people at the door and helping with registration of guests and service providers. ¢ Volunteers are needed to assist with the 79th edition of the Kansas Relays from April 20 to 22. Volunteers may serve in a variety of positions including lap counters, weights and measures, hurdle crew, basket crew, results, hospitality, awards staff, PA spotters and athlete stewards. No experience is necessary. All volunteers receive a Kansas Relays T-shirt and are provided meals and drinks while they are working.
