Impeachable?
To the editor:
Here is a little quiz:
For the president of the United States, which of the following could be an impeachable offense?
1. Starting a war and invading another country based on questionable deceptions.
2. Detaining thousands of people on unfounded suspicion and with no legal counsel.
3. Taking the largest surplus in history and turning it into the largest deficit while cutting health, education and welfare programs for those who are at most risk.
4. Providing a series of tax cuts that primarily benefit the wealthy and corporations and (see 3 above).
5. Withering our good will and reputation around the world through imperious, one-sided decision-making.
6. Sending our young men and women to war with insufficient ordinance and materiel. And then cutting their health and mental health benefits and supports.
7. Spying on a wide spectrum of citizens with a fabricated and dubious rationale and without the requisite legal assurances and permissions.
8. Having a sexual dalliance with an aide.
