To the editor:

I used to be an avid hiker and explorer in my younger, skinnier days. I have done many trails in Missouri and Kansas and all the trails in Stilwell, Kan., that the Mission Valley Hunt uses.

Of all the trails I’ve hiked, I rate the Clinton Lake bike trails very high. The terrain is varied, and trails are well marked. A lot of the white trail is an actual trail, not an “adventure.” There is easy access for whatever distance you wish to hike, and they are so clean (except for the areas that have been trashed by campers). And all this within 15 minutes of home! My extreme thanks to all the volunteers that make it possible and anyone else that needs recognition.
