Police officers catch robbery suspect
Lawrence Police say they used surveillance on a liquor store Thursday morning to catch a suspect who may be connected to as many as 20 other burglaries.
After 4 a.m., officers saw a man break a window and steal several bottles of liquor from Danny’s Liquor Store, 1910 Haskell Ave., according to a statement from police spokesman Sgt. Dan Ward.
Officers then chased the 23-year-old Lawrence man, about a block from the store. They arrested him on burglary and theft charges, and he was booked into the Douglas County Jail.
Officers believe he may be connected to similar liquor store burglaries that occurred beginning in February 2005.
