Lost potential

To the editor:

Abortion has come once again to the forefront. Some results of abortion should be considered. Consider the economy. There are fewer people to buy as well as to sell products, fewer people to develop products. This creates a chain reaction. Taxes cannot be collected from people that do not exist. Social Security cannot be paid by people who don’t exist.

Each fetus (I prefer to say baby), has potential that would benefit mankind. Every person is endowed with talent, gifts and abilities. They are developed, guided and polished through the years of growth. It is these people that discover medicine that cures, develop technology that makes life easier, and give structure to society. Some of those people have been aborted. If they had not been aborted, life might be better.

Some speak of creating a master race by controlling and deciding who should be born. A master race would rule and there would be no democracy. Abortion is one of their tools. Those judged to be a liability help us to remain compassionate, loving and serving others. The Katrina disaster would not have been called a disaster under a master race, just the survival of the strongest.

The consequences of abortion of babies may have slowed the progress we could have accomplished.
