Reception hall permit on tonight’s agenda

The Douglas County Commission tonight will decide whether to grant a special-use permit to allow a reception and recreation facility for Stony Point Hall southwest of Vinland.

Russell and Lucretia Carlson, owners of the property at 1514 N. 600 Road, want to use the hall for wedding receptions, large family reunions, business meetings and similar events. County planning staff recommend approval of the proposal with a review in five years.

Commissioners also will decide whether to grant a conditional-use permit allowing the remodeling of a well house for Osage Rural Water District 5, 143 N. 200 Road.

Items on the consent agenda include:

¢ Approval of providing the Kansas Department of Transportation with the authority to award contracts for the replacement of County Road 1055 bridge near the Cedar Hill Gun Club.

¢ Acceptance of the task of maintaining roads in the Raeta subdivision at North 1634 Road east of County Road 442, west of Stull.

¢ Acceptance of the task of maintaining roads in Beaver Creek Estates subdivision at North 1928 Road and east of East 850 Road near Lecompton.
