Housing priority
To the editor:
Maybe it’s time to check our priorities once more – BEFORE we fold Eagle Bend Golf Course into the Parks and Recreation Department.
Expenses the last three years (approximate): 2003 – $162,000; 2004 – $150,000; 2005 – $57,000.
Putting this money instead into affordable housing in the future just might provide decent housing so desperately needed in our community.
And until there is some, are we really going to pen our citizens who are homeless in their back alley, euphemistically referred to as a “patio,” because the neighbors don’t want them sitting in the sun on what little grassy area they have near their front door, in the only affordable housing they have.
