City commissioners recognized nearly 300 individuals and businesses that have contributed $93,000 in funding and in-kind services to the city’s Friends of the Parks program.

The Parks and Recreation Department sponsored a thank you reception Tuesday evening for individuals who donated. The program allows the department to give scholarships to children who otherwise can’t afford to participate in parks and recreation programs and also helps fund the Gale Armbrister Memorial Fund.
