Not much new

To the editor:

My son and two of my grandchildren visited the Watkins Museum of History. We were very disappointed in what we saw. It appeared to me not much has changed since the new archivist and exhibit coordinator and curator and registrar were hired. It was certainly not worth the suggested donation requested.

Now, at the request of Commissioner Jones, they have come up with a proposal to exhibit county government history in the courthouse and the law enforcement center. Also, to hire two assistants to research the historical background of the county government.

It seems to me a better use of their time would be to improve the Watkins Museum and make one area (lots of unused space) covering government history. This might make Watkins Museum worth visiting and contribute to a better downtown.
