Douglas County burn ban lifted after rainfall

Saturday morning’s rain had a hand in the Douglas County Commission’s decision to lift the county’s burn ban.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical Division Chief Jerry Karr said Saturday night that the department would issue burn permits again.

County commissioners adopted the ban on Monday because of extremely dry conditions in the area.

The ban prohibited the building and maintaining of most open fires or campfires and the burning of fencerows, fields, wild lands, ravines, trash or debris.
