Officials take more time to evaluate city manager

City commissioners are taking some extra time to review the performance of City Manager Mike Wildgen.

Commissioners on Thursday met for two hours in a closed-door executive session to conduct Wildgen’s annual job evaluation. But commissioners agreed to reconvene for another executive session at 8 a.m. Monday at City Hall.

Mayor Boog Highberger said commissioners decided to split the evaluation into two sessions after it became obvious Thursday that they would not have enough time to discuss everything. Commissioners did not bring Wildgen into Thursday’s meeting.

This is the second year in a row that commissioners have taken an extra session to evaluate Wildgen, who has been the city’s top executive since 1990.

Highberger said he expected the evaluation process to be completed Monday.
