A 13-year-old girl told police she was taking out the trash at her apartment in north central Lawrence when a 43-year-old male acquaintance pushed her back into her apartment and raped her.
The incident happened between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. June 11 but wasn't reported to police until Friday. The suspect, a 43-year-old Lawrence man, was booked into the Douglas County Jail on Saturday on suspicion of aggravated burglary and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
The man remained in jail Monday evening with bond set at $100,000.
