Constitutional rights

To the editor:

While leaving town, Wakarusa Festival campers were reported as complaining about “too much” police presence during the past week, some saying that despite the great music, they won’t be back next year. Nonetheless, the festival spokesperson, apparently not worried about next year’s attendance, was not critical, saying the police were just doing police things.

Also reported recently: Two Kansas City radio sports reporters asked some real tough (read as: “highly critical”) questions of the Kansas City Royals leadership at a press conference. The next day, the Royals (apparently taking their name a bit too literally) responded by banning the reporters from future press conferences and taking away the reporters’ “credentials,” their press passes.

Last weekend, a friend e-mailed photos of the work of a billboard “editorialist” (www.casadice.com/index.htm). While there’s a lot there I don’t like, the guy is clearly not afraid to speak his mind.

God bless him, the two reporters and those who take the time to read and understand the Constitution.
