Brown Cargo Van wins ethics award

Brown Cargo Van Inc. is the winner of the 2006 Northeast Kansas Business Ethics Award, presented by the Northeast Kansas Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

The Lawrence-based company will be honored during the organization’s annual meeting, which will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 28 at the School of Business at Washburn University in Topeka.

The award enters Brown Cargo Van in a national competition for the American Business Ethics Award, to be presented Sept. 25 at the Union League in Philadelphia. Previous winners of the national award include Whirlpool Corp., Hewlett-Packard, Starbucks and Levi Strauss.

Brown Cargo Van, a private company, makes equipment and systems for truck transportation. It also manufactures specialty trailers and custom units used for mobile laboratories, product displays, glass transportation, law enforcement and command centers.

Sidney Garrett is the company’s president.
