Bitter Coulter

To the editor:

Leonard Pitts’ column (Journal-World, June 11) expressed my impression of Ann Coulter more eloquently than I could have. This darling of Fox News and conservatives is a bitter, hateful individual who would almost make you laugh if she wasn’t so pathetic and obsessed. She wraps herself in the flag and charges that any who oppose this war or question the government are nothing but liberal traitors giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

On the contrary, I charge her with treason for her remarks about invading Muslim countries, killing their leaders and converting them to Christianity.

Al-Qaida enjoys reading this kind of propaganda. This is the best recruiting tool to convince all Muslims of this world that America is making war on them; this plays right into their hands.

How many young Americans could possibly lose their lives to terrorists who joined the insurrection believing such misguided rhetoric? Is this not treasonous to threaten an Arab world that already is suspicious of our motives in the Mideast? Remember, al-Qaida predicted America attacking an oil-rich country in the Mideast long before the Iraq war. Why provide fuel for their cause?

In some ways, Ann Coulter is not unlike al-Qaida in their intense, fanatical hate for others.

Sorry, Ann, I’m far from liberal, but I believe a true patriot always questions authority and a fair and honest debate on political issues keeps a government honest. There is always room for all opinions, without fear of being a victim of vile, hateful name-calling like Ann indulges in.
