The Missouri Public Service Commission on Tuesday ordered its staff to look into compensation and bonuses given to Aquila Inc. executives.

Auditors also will investigate the utility’s decisions surrounding its construction of the South Harper power plant near Peculiar, Mo., which has been legally challenged for being built without Cass County approval.

Staff members said they will file a preliminary report on Sept. 15 and a final report on Oct. 31.

Aquila provides natural gas service in Lawrence.
