Old home town – 40 years ago today
A Journal-World survey showed that while the city still had no public swimming pool as such, there were at least 40 pools of a private and semi-private nature in the community. Lawrence was one of only two or three cities of comparable size in Kansas that had no public pool, despite periodic efforts to establish one.
