Ottawa ? Skilled Healthcare LLC, operator of eight Vintage Park Assisted Living centers in Kansas, plans to start construction this week of its ninth: Vintage Park at Ottawa.

The California-based company will have a ground-breaking ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 2250 S. Main St., where it will build a 40-unit complex.

Skilled Healthcare also has assisted-living centers in Baldwin, Gardner, Louisburg, Paola, Osawatomie, Overland Park, Lenexa and Atchison.

The company also has another seven skilled nursing locations. The Ottawa center is expected to open in January and have a total of up to 35 full- and part-time employees, said Rosanna Smith, a Skilled Healthcare spokeswoman.
