Youths needed to organize Liberty Hall events

Wednesdays at Liberty Hall is currently recruiting junior high-aged volunteers interested in becoming the youth leaders for the W@LH project.

Teen volunteers will become the W@LH Youth Advisory Council. The council will be responsible for helping to organize W@LH events such as dances, concerts, art shows, etc., in addition to helping to provide youth leadership and support for the overall W@LH project. Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps seeks volunteers from all fields willing to help in a public-health emergency situation. Volunteers serve during nonemergency times as educators on healthy living issues and activate in response to public health emergencies and community disasters. ¢ The Lawrence Meals on Wheels program is in need of volunteer drivers to assist with meal delivery for a recently established delivery route. Volunteers serve lunch to homebound community members who are elderly and/or disabled. Driver positions are available each day of the week. Route delivery takes 45 minutes. ¢ Lawrence Arts Center is now recruiting volunteers to assist with its summer youth art education classes. Opportunities to share art skills, including ceramics, painting, photography and more, occur weekday mornings and afternoons during the summer months. Artistic expertise is not required. ¢ Van Go Mobile Arts will put on its annual “What Floats Your Boat?” fundraiser and seeks volunteers to assist with the June 17 event. Community volunteers will be needed to help tear down tables and chairs beginning at 10 p.m. Volunteers will receive free tickets to the event including food, drinks and dancing to the band $ellout. ¢ The Strategic Education Center is seeking community-minded individuals to join the board of directors. Previous experience in fundraising is a plus. A three-year time commitment with monthly board meetings and committee meeting attendance is required. The center is a nonprofit tutoring organization dedicated to assisting learners of all ages and backgrounds. ¢ Lawrence Community Theatre is looking for the following volunteers to work during its production of “George M!”, which runs through Sunday, June 25. Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions, including house manager, box office and ticket table attendants, intermission host and refreshment bartenders.
