The T gives 2,038 rides on Dump the Pump Day
The idea of dumping the gas pump appealed to many Lawrence residents Thursday.
The city-operated bus system, the T, set a new ridership record Thursday as part of the National Dump the Pump Day. The T offered free rides on Thursday and attracted 2,038 riders.
Cliff Galante, the city’s public transit administrator, said the T offered the free rides as an opportunity to show people that public transportation could be incorporated into their regular routines.
