To the editor:
Why don’t background or reference checks reveal problems with employees who work in homes for the handicapped or elderly? Those constant abusive, sick conditions of our most vulnerable people must stop.
What are laws for if nobody enforces them? The state should check on the agencies that provide these services just as much as they check on the individuals who are care providers. Paperwork from these agencies isn’t the only answer. They need to see what is going on. If need be, other agencies can be approved, not just one.
