Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence Police officers and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical workers responded to what was originally reported to emergency dispatchers as a possible stabbing Thursday night near South Park and the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center. Sgt. Susan Hadl said details were unavailable as officers continued to investigate the call late Thursday.

¢ A 57-year-old Lawrence man discovered Sunday that his mother’s gravestone at Oak Hill Cemetery had been tipped over and broken. Damage was $1,500.

¢ Police arrested a 23-year-old Lawrence woman Wednesday evening on suspicion of dragging a 21-year-old female acquaintance to the ground by her hair in the 2500 block of Morningside Drive. The 21-year-old was holding a 7-month-old baby who suffered minor injuries, according to police.

¢ Lawrence Police arrested a 47-year-old Topeka man and a 29-year-old Lawrence woman Wednesday afternoon for indecent exposure after they were caught having sex in a field behind the Sonic Drive-In, 1003 N. Third St.

Injury accident

¢ A Tonganoxie man was injured Thursday evening when he tried to avoid a parked car and his car swerved into a ditch about five miles northwest of Tonganoxie.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Randy Johnson, 20, was driving west in his 1987 Honda CRX at 5:05 p.m. just east of Kansas Highway 16 when he reached the top of a hill and maneuvered to miss the parked vehicle.

Johnson then lost control of his car and ran into the ditch. Although he was wearing his seat belt, he was injured and taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where a nursing supervisor said he was treated and later released.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ Someone stole $4,550 in tools from a wooden storage cabinet inside M.E. Kelley Excavating, 1470 N. 1823 Road. It happened May 9 or 10.

¢ A laptop computer worth $1,100, a carrying case and $170 in other property were stolen between 10 a.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Monday from a car in the 200 block of Campbell Drive.

¢ Someone pried open a soft-drink machine and a change machine Wednesday night in a building at the Stouffer Place Apartments, said Capt. Schuyler Bailey, a spokesman for the Kansas University Public Safety Office. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash, he said.
