Mumps cases on rise
Douglas County now has 266 confirmed or probable mumps cases, the county’s health department reported Thursday.
Six more cases were reported since May 27.
The latest Kansas Department of Health and Environment report on Monday put the statewide number at 706 confirmed or probable cases. The report also has shown the number of new cases has declined significantly in the final week of May compared with the first three weeks and each week of April.
A majority of the Douglas County cases have involved Kansas University students.
