To the editor:

How sad it was when my niece called me and asked why I didn’t put some flowers on my husband’s grave at East View Cemetery in Big Springs.

I was so shocked when she said there were no flowers on his grave so I went down Wednesday morning and sure enough it was very bare. I just couldn’t believe that any human being could be so low as to take flowers off a loved one’s grave.

He was born and raised in the Big Springs community and was well liked by everyone who knew him. He ran the Spencer store in Big Springs for 20 years and the kids looked forward to getting candy at his store.

How someone could not show respect for this loved one and the loved ones that are left, to take his flowers from his grave?

How sad.
