Peoples Bank will play at least another two seasons as official title sponsor of “Late Night in the Phog,” the annual celebration that marks the beginning of basketball season at Kansas University.

The bank and Kansas Athletics Inc. on Thursday announced the extension of a sponsorship agreement that began last year. Terms were not disclosed.

This year’s event is set for Oct. 13 and will include skits, musical entertainment and other special appearances before culminating with scrimmages for KU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.

“Our fans absolutely love this event,” said Jim Marchiony, an associate athletics director, in a statement. “It is known as the best tip-off event in the country, and with the help of Peoples Bank it will stay that way.”
